The Yarra Trio are dedicated to helping the next generation of Australian musicans.

The Trio’s educational programme is in three segments - Masterclasses,  Primary School and Secondary School.

Masterclasses are given throughout Australia, focusing particularly on Regional Australia, working with students that are already learning an instrument to give the student fresh ideas and a different perspective on the students current pieces.   The trio has worked with large number of students in different formats - solo, orchestraal, bands and chamber groups.

The Primary School Program ‘Proms for Preps’ has been set up by the trio with the help of The University of Melbourne and and is focused on giving the students a positive, often first time, experience of classical music.   Apart from learning about the instruments the students are engaged in using their imagination with regard to guessing which animals the piece of music represents and also  each student learns how to conduct (with colourful plastic straws).    The 2008 regional included this program from the first time and we were blown away by the response from both the students and teachers alike.

In 2009 the trio will also include a programme focused on Secondary Schools which will include a range of different styles from classical to jazz to dance played on the cello, violin and piano.
